An elemental shaman will level faster than any other, bar none. Now as far as what kind of spell rotation you’re going to be using, there are 2 main ones that depend on your level:
Levels 1-40:
Earth/Flame/Wind/Frost Shock(pick one) > Lightning Bolt > Melee the enemy during spell downtime > Healing Wave if necessary > Repeat until enemy is dead
Levels 41-80:
Searing Totem > Lightning > Lightning > Earth/Flame/Wind/Frost Shock(pick one) > Melee the enemy during spell downtime > Lesser Healing Wave if needed > Repeat from lightning until enemy is dead
These rotations are not set in stone but should serve as a solid base to work from. Now after I myself had done all this research, I set out to level my own Shaman, however things didn’t quite turn out as I had expected..
I Was Leveling Too Damn Slow!
I couldn’t believe it. I had researched the best talent spec and rotations for leveling yet here I was at level 15 bored with the leveling process.

When I first heard about this Shaman Leveling Guide I thought that it was going to be some PDf file, but it ended up being an in-game add-on instead. What it does is place a green arrow in front of your Shaman which directs you to what quest you need to do next. If you’re on a quest, it directs you to the monsters or objectives and if you’re finished with a quest it directs you to what you need to do next to level up as fast as possible. All you do is keep following the arrow…
You also see a dialogue box in game which shows you what you need to do in writing, for instance you may see:
Kill 10 Spore Harvesters in the Borean Tundra for “Vermin Extermination” at (24,43)
Obtain 8 Tempest Motes from Enraged Tempests for “Motes of the Enraged” at (24,64)
Turn in the “Vermin Extermination” Quest to Scout Tungok
Now even though I found this guide to be of help, it wasn’t perfect, here are the issues I had:
CONS:
- They used to give you an HTML version of the guide in addition to the in game version. They’ve since taken it down for some reason.
- They should have more videos that show you how to do the hardest quests in WoW…Also, there needs to be more class specific leveling info available.
PROS:
- With the Map Mod that comes with the add-on, you can see visually on your map what you need to do next. You can also see what needs to be done in writing in the dialogue box.
- In addition to the mini-map and dialogue box, you have a green arrow that points you to where you need to go next, this really simplifies the leveling process.
- This program isn’t a hack or a cheat or anything, so you won’t be banned for using it.
- You can use this guide for not only your Shaman, but any other class.
